Mercurey "Les Marcoeurs" - Domaine Bertrand

A characterful, generous Mercurey, with intense Pinot Noir fruit, beautiful depth and plenty of elegance. A wine that evolves in the glass, revealing something new with every sip.

In Barizey, in Burgundy's Côte Chalonnaise, Catarina and Raphaël Bertrand craft wines that reflect both their personalities and their terroirs: generous, precise and full of character. Domaine Bertrand is a family estate whose history dates back to 1911, now carried forward by this talented winemaking couple.

Les Marcoeurs is a 100% Pinot Noir Mercurey from a particularly well-exposed, stony vineyard on the eastern side of the appellation.
This is a Mercurey with real depth and substance, yet never at the expense of its fruit. Ripe red and dark fruit mingle with spicy, deeper notes, while the palate combines structure, freshness and impressive length.

Above all, this is a wine that keeps evolving in the glass. Give it time and it opens beautifully, gradually revealing new layers and nuances. An expressive, refined Pinot Noir to enjoy slowly — and a wonderful reminder of just how exciting Mercurey can be.

Our take

A very, very special favourite at La Cave de Lorette.
We loved the wines before meeting the people behind them. Then we had the pleasure of welcoming Catarina and Raphaël to La Cave de Lorette — and some encounters make the bottles you choose to champion even more meaningful.

They are warm, passionate and wonderfully approachable… but above all, extremely talented winemakers. Les Marcoeurs is a beautiful example of their work.

We love its fruit, depth and elegance, and especially the way it evolves throughout the tasting. It has character without harshness, substance without heaviness, and the kind of lingering finish that immediately makes you want another sip.

One of those wines we're particularly happy to have chosen - and even happier to share with you.
