Serpil
Behind La Cave de Lorette, there is first and foremost Serpil
Wine was, for a long time, a passion. Then came the moment when Serpil decided to make it her profession.
After a long career in finance and management, she changed course to devote herself fully to the world that fascinated her: wine, of course, but also everything around it — the terroirs, the know-how, the encounters and the human stories.
Her curiosity naturally led her to keep learning. A WSET level 2 certificate holder and Master Level Sud de France (Languedoc-Roussillon) graduate from the École des Vins et Spiritueux de Paris, she went on to the Institut des Sciences de la Vigne et du Vin in Bordeaux, where she earned the DUIO (a university diploma in oenology) and then the DUAD (a university diploma in tasting).
But learning was never an end in itself.
It's this wish to pass on and share that gave rise to La Cave de Lorette.
Behind every bottle, Serpil loves to open up much more than a wine: a landscape, a heritage, know-how, a way of working and, above all, the people behind it.
And that's probably what she loves most about her work: making a discovery, then wanting to share it with you.
The cave
A shop to live in
La Cave de Lorette is not just a place to buy a bottle.
It's a place to come and taste, talk, ask for advice, discover something new, or sometimes simply stop by to say hello. You can come in for a bottle and leave a little later, after talking about a wine, a winemaker, or a dinner you're planning.
Here, we like to take our time.
A selection that means something
Nothing arrives at the cave from a catalogue. Every wine, spirit, beer or fine-food product is tasted, discussed and chosen for what it is, but also for the story and the people behind it.
We talk with the producers, we learn about their work and their philosophy. And we always ask ourselves the same question: do we truly want to share this with you?
A bottle can be excellent and still not find its place here. A selection is as much a matter of taste as of conviction. At La Cave de Lorette you'll find familiar names, but also a few gems you won't necessarily come across elsewhere.
Discoveries, favourites, and always a few surprises.
For every taste, every mood, every budget
You don't need to be an expert to walk through the door. You can enjoy wine without talking about tannins or grape varieties, or you can want to go further. Either way, we start by listening to you.
For a dinner, a gift, a special occasion, or simply the wish to discover something new, we take the time to understand what you're looking for, and we always start with what fits, not necessarily the most expensive option.
A good bottle doesn't need to be expensive to bring joy.
The selection ranges from simple, everyday bottles to great vintages kept for special occasions. What matters stays the same: finding the right bottle for the right person.
A shop where everyone finds their place
Those who love to chat for an hour, and those who pop in for five minutes. Those who know exactly what they want, and those who arrive with "I'm looking for something good, but I don't know what". Regulars, neighbours, the curious, beginners, and visitors who've come from much further away.
Everyone is welcomed in the same way, without judgment, and without assuming what you do or don't know about wine.
And then, there are the encounters
Over time, a wine shop becomes a little more than a business. We see the regulars again, we remember their tastes and their discoveries, we exchange advice, and we learn a great deal from them.
Some leave straight away with their bottle. Others would almost settle in to set the world to rights. We're happy either way.
Our tastings, workshops and meetings with producers are a natural extension of this spirit: wine, like every bottle worth telling a story about, is above all about sharing.
A shop to live in
In the end, maybe that's all it is: a place you come to for a bottle, and where you feel good enough to want to come back.
